How Does Paintless Dent Repair Work?

March 08, 2012 02:48pm | Dent Repair

Paintless dent repair can be alikened to an art. It requires intense training, a steady hand, and an excellent understanding of how metal behaves under pressure.

Paintless dent repair can only be performed on dents that are roughly 20 mm deep, which are generally caused by parking or hail damage. If the dent is any deeper, damage to the paint will occur and it will have to be repaired in a traditional method.

The specialist panelbeater will assess the damage to a vehicle to determine if it qualifies for paintless dent repair before recommending an appropriate course of action.

The actual job will be done in a workshop under bright fluorescent lights using dent repair leavers that will gradually massage the metal back into its original position.  Once it is entirely pushed out it is buffed to ensure the work is entirely invisible. It is important to remember paintless dent repair cannot be used in every situation; however, it is an excellent option to take advantage of when it is possible.
